Freetown Pitch Night First Anniversary
Yes! It’s our anniversary, a year of assiduously creating a platform for entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone to have the opportunity in conveying and developing their priceless ideas within the entrepreneur space of Sierra Leone.
The March 1st event hosted at the 232 complex invariably started with a short prayer, after which our Chairman Sheka Forna proudly spoke on the humble beginning of GENSL in manning the Freetown Pitch Night which was previously done by SOBA.
As part of his mandate, he also explained the “raison d etre” of GEN Global and how this fits and beneficial to the Sierra Leonean entrepreneur community.
“We need an effective entrepreneurial ecosystem” marked the end of Chairman’s speech and ushered Francis G Stevens (Ag.MD) who started by being very thankful to all who in diverse ways have contributed in nursing our 1 year kid (Freetown Pitch Night) especially Mutzig. He further gave insights about the challenges and successes so far with an emphasis on what is ahead of the road for entrepreneurism and GENSL.
Exciting video messages from Angela Betancourt and Jason Eaves, who were part of the SOBA team that initiated the Freetown Pitch Night, drew applause from the audience. Both expressed their gratitude that GEN SL has not only continued with the Pitch night but continues to expand the event.
One of our partners, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was represented. Rev. Proff. Daniel Ngegeba made a short statement appreciating that Freetown Pitch Night now provides a platform for students of Limkokwing to pitch their business ideas.
Opportunities were also given to previous pitchers to share their testimony on how the Freetown Pitch Night has impacted them and their Businesses
Aminata Kassem-Carew spoke on behalf of Mutzig (who are our main sponsors) commenting on their stance in developing entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone and how this coheres with GEN SL purpose and activities. Highlighting the persevering qualities of our MD, she expressed her gratitude for Mutzig to be a partner in the Freetown Pitch Night and hoped for more partnership in coming events.
